Adwords check showing no impressions

porn, gambling, cigarettes .....I'm sure that you know that...so, I'm lost here,

Just use another gmail and your wife's card and you are good to go.

You could try to send a support ticket to Steve and ask him if this niche would be
a bad one (at Google's eyes)

Ok my adwords test worked.

254 impressions.
And I bid so much that I got to position 1 on average without realizing it. :-\

Better than I hoped. I just tested two out of 3 keywords. I wrote a bad ad and I got clicks with a clickthrough rate of 6.72 and .2.22

Not trying to hijack this thread, but I would like to clarify the suspension of my friend's Adwords account.

FYI...the niche and KW he was targeting were not the issue---simple consumer goods, very common, no porn, booze etc.

His account was suspended for some kind of Trademark violation. Here's what I believe happened---don't let it happen to you.

Cindy and Erik, I think that Dean's account was suspended because he sent traffic to the #1 ranking site in the Organic rankings and should have sent traffic to a high ranking site in the PPC rankings. Here's why: the site he sent traffic to had a QS of 1 and was rife with trademark violations.

In Google's TOS, they say "Google's trademark policy does not apply to search results. Our investigations only apply to sponsored links." i.e., The sites appearing in the sponsored listings will have no trademark issues at all.

So, Dean sent traffic to a site in the organic rankings which had a terrible landing page and quality score. I think that when Google evaluated his campaign, they saw the poor QS and trademark issues of the landing page his ad was pointing to and banned his account.

Steve says in the video to choose a site that has a great QS, which would have to be a PPC site as quality score is not a metric that applies to Organic search results.

Steve, can you or Dave chime in? I think that this is an important issue because people like Dean may be in danger of having their Adwords accounts suspended if they perform this Adwords test incorrectly. Thanks---Jack.

Google provides a link to their editorial guidelines at the bottom of the Adwords account page. Worth reviewing if you are new to Adwords.

I have a question: Is there a way to figure out the total time that your ad actually displayed? Mine did not display for the whole day and I cannot figure out how to tell how long it displayed.

Hi,

I am having the same problem as pmaeria...but I checked everything, I googled my keyword and the add appeared. I also hovered over the keywords in adwords campaign and it says the ad are showing, but in adwords it still shows 0 impressions.

My ad has been running for several hours now. I wonder, what did pmaeria do to finally see some impression in the ad campaign?

Given that you can see your ad and that Google says they are showing, I'd say you simply need to give it more time. The reporting isn't instant so you likely just won't see any data after just several hours. Give it 24hours before you start worrying.

When I first started using Adwords to verify traffic to a KW I kept seeing no impressions - then I realized I needed to update the date I was viewing in the Adwords control panel, it was set to the day before and as such was not showing what was happening now!

Thanks so much! After a day I was able to see the impressions, but as Kulea said, I also changed the date for "today" and started seeing the impressions earlier.
