Just inches away ...

I'm hoping there is someone out there who uses something besides PayPal to process payments and who acccepts American Express.

I have never been able to get an American Express payment to go through, although I am set up to accept them with my payment processor. An error message always comes back from the checkout.payment.php page stating that the verification code needs to be three digits (unless it is an American Express card). The card is an American Express card but it doesn't seem to recognize this fact.

Everybody keeps passing the buck on this one and my payment processor says it is the CRE Loaded software we are using. I installed a payment module from them called "Gateway Services" which was made to work with cre Loaded into the includes/modules/payment folder and I suspect that it is this module that is the real culprit.

I have tried using this payment module with both NB1 and NB2 stores and it has never worked with American Express cards. Am I right that it is their "Gateway Services" payment module made for CRE Loaded that is problem or is there something in the CRE Loaded software that is the problem?

I got the payment processor to see the light and that it was, indeed, their payment module that was the problem. They had their programmers work on it for a day (an outside agency) and fixed the problem.

Now I'm wondering if this same file will work with the NB1 stores. Only one way to find out, I guess (and yes, I'll back up the original file).

Scooter, is this with PayPal Payment Pro?

I would assume so since no c.c. details are entered during the checkout process on your site with paypal standard.

Actually, no. That would be totally against my anti-PayPal stance. The payment processing company is called Durango and they have you download two files - one for the payment module and the other in the Languages/english module - called "Gateway Services" that was supposed to work with CRE Loaded.

Although they had the line of code in the original (bad) file that told the module what to do if the verification code wasn't three digits and wasn't American Express, they were missing the line of code that identified a card as an American Express card. Now that it can determine if a card is American Express, all is good and it will accept a four digit verification code.

Oh, I'm following you.

The problem is these type of places get one set of files to use for "CRE Loaded" and truthfully they only work (without modifying) for one version of the software (and probably an older one). If you take the files from your working store and put them into the same locations in your other stores it should work.

It never even worked with the NB1 store. I haven't tested the new file to see if it will work with an NB1 store yet.

Okay, just to close this out.

I finally got around to doing a test order on an NB1 site with the modfied payment processinf file and it works on NB1 as well.

Apparently, the payment portions of these to particular versions of CRE Loaded are identical in respect for how files "play" with one another.

Now, I need to add the AMEX logo to my two NB1 stores that I cropped out a year ago ...
